John Firstbrook
John Firstbrook, Founder and President of the Firstbrook Insurance Group, has been helping families and business, with insurance solutions, for over 30 years.

Early on in his career, John noticed a gap in the advice channel for entrepreneurs. He noted that families and businesses needed advice on how to transfer assets from one generation to the next. Since then, John has dedicated his career to the advancement of quality relationships, with particular attention paid to the specialists required for smooth business and estate transfers. He has created a team of passionate and enthusiastic professionals to help him achieve his vision, of acting as a catalyst for the co-ordination of experts, such as accountants, lawyers, psychologists, and insurance providers, with a goal of finding optimal planning solutions for all his clients. John is proud of the unsurpassed service the Firstbrook Insurance Group provides.
John enjoys navigating the waters of Muskoka with his wife, Ann, son, Andrew, and golden retriever, Kodi.
David Miklas
David is a Partner at Firstbrook. He started his career in 2015 at a boutique financial planning firm. While hired to take over an investment book, he found his true passion in insurance.

At this firm, he became the insurance specialist and grew that side of the business for 5 years. A problem solver by nature, David enjoys collaborating with families and their professional advisors. David uses his collaboration and relationship building skills to help clients find the best solution for their insurance planning needs.
David received his Engineering degree from the University of Toronto and his MBA from the DeGroote School of Business. He holds a CFP and is working towards his FEA designation.
David is an avid traveler, having visited over 30 countries. He and his partner, Kate, enjoy hiking and spending time with their dog, Autumn.
Amy Zhao
Amy Zhao, Manager of Client Services, at the Firstbrook Insurance Group, began her career as a licensed Advisor at Sun Life Financial where she learned the ins and outs of the insurance business before beginning her role at the Firstbrook Insurance Group.

With her experience and knowledge in life insurance, Amy provides support in all matters related to insurance administration. She expertly facilitates the day-to-day operations required to attain business goals. Amy finds satisfaction in providing a superior level of service to clients and enjoys the administrative challenges of supporting a small but successful team.
Amy graduated from the University of Toronto, with a degree in psychology and linguistics. She also went on to achieve her life license qualification. Outside of work, Amy spends a great deal of time with her family and enjoys travelling and discovering new local restaurants.
